Locomotive Class: 2-8-0 freight locomotive
Fuels: Wood, then converted to Coal, and finally converted to Oil.
Country of Service: Puerto Rico
Country of Origin: United States of America
Owner: American Railroad Company of Puerto Rico (Then spelled Porto Rico).
Builder: Baldwin Locomotive Works.
Year Built: 1904
Years of Service: 1904-1958~ (Exact date not known.)
Overview:
Locomotive #34 of the American Railroad, one of the first American locomotives ever brought to the island of Puerto Rico to work on the recently acquired Ferrocarriles de Puerto Rico (Railroads of Puerto Rico). The company was later renamed the American Railroad of Puerto Rico. Most Puerto Rican Locomotives have "American Railroad" written on their tenders, and the letters A.R.R. on their cabs. This locomotive almost looks like it came out of the old west, with the big baloon stack, and the oil burning headlamps, it is one of my favorite Puerto Rican locomotives.
